Whānau Day 2023

Whānau Day 2023

Pai te kite i a koutou! We had an awesome time with whānau on our Whānau Day trip through Tōtaranui (Queen Charlotte Sound) out to Kura Te Au (Tory Channel) ahead of the AGM.

With nearly 70 whānau on board there were a lot of laughs and some fun memories made.

We stopped off at the old whaling station on Arapaoa to walk the whenua and share a kai. Aunty Tina Looms and Aunty Rima Riwaka reminisced on their childhood memories and showed us where their whare used to stand on the hill.

It was a beautiful day for our whānau to come together, to hear stories from kaumātua, sing and perform our waiata. We finished off with a barbecue at a place special for all of us – Waikawa Bay.
