He kōrero mō Te Ahu o te Reo Māori ki Te Tauihu

 

Te Ahu o te Reo Māori is a Government-funded initiative that aims to grow and strengthen an education workforce that can integrate Te Reo Māori into the learning of all ākonga in Aotearoa. Nationwide delivery of this initiative is being rolled out from 2021, across 10 regions of New Zealand, by multiple providers. In partnership with ngā iwi o Te Tauihu, NMIT has been named the provider for the Nelson/Marlborough region.

 

Te Whiwhinga mahi 

 

NMIT are seeking expressions of interest from experienced teachers and speakers of te reo to teach professional development sessions to early childhood, primary and secondary school teachers in Te Tauihu from November 2021.

 

Your role will be to provide professional teaching across a variety of settings, online or face to face, developing materials and lesson plans, as well as using existing materials in accordance with the agreed delivery plan, and to meet the objectives of Te Ahu o te Reo Māori.

 

The first delivery will begin in November 2021 (subject to numbers) and will involve late afternoon/evening classes and some weekend workshops. From next year there will also be noho marae and some workshops during school holidays. We are interested in hearing from people who are available this year, and also those who could start in 2022. 

 

He kōrero mōu 

 

To be successful in this role you will need to:

  • have an established knowledge of Te Reo me ngā Tikanga Māori 
  • have experience teaching, ideally in an adult learning environment.
  • work flexibly with the ability to adapt to changing work environments, including online and blended delivery.
  • have effective organisation, planning and time management skills.
  • be willing to work flexible hours
