Are you Physically fit?  Self-motivated & disciplined? Love of the ocean? Interested in the marine farm industry and to work for an organization that will allow you to grow?

Currently, we're looking to add to our team and have an opportunity for a Deck Hand available, areas of location will be Tasman, Golden Bay, Pelorus and Marlborough.

This position involves all aspects of deck work and aquafarm maintenance.

The key components of this role will be:

  • to assist our Aquaculture manager
  • includes both on the water (crop checking, farm floatation & general farm maintenance) and shore based activities

 Due to the nature of the role the successful applicant may be required to work a flexible schedule which may include some weekend work and possible overnight stays. Hours will vary from week to week with the hope that it will become full time in the future.

About You

You must be registered with Te Ātiawa O Te Waka-a-Māui Trust.

You must be physically fit - it is physically demanding work

Previous mussel farm experience preferred, but not essential.

Basic seamanship knowledge would be an advantage.

What do I need to be successful in this role?

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who can fit in seamlessly with our team of hard workers who get on well with each other and can have a good laugh. If you have aquaculture experience or an interest in this field that will always be an advantage. However most of our team have a love of the ocean which draws them to these roles.
